Kingdoms is a series of 18”x18” black and white photographs with metallic overlays placed directly on the prints. Seen as a series of metaphorical “lines,” (a journey between two points), they express their meanings in the distance between images. They were meant to be necessarily mysterious and vague, a wandering set of meanings between a departure and arrival.

Rebecca Solnit wrote a companion to these photographs in a lovely artists’ book project for the California Museum of Photography at U.C. Riverside in 1993. The book was design by Rex Ray and published by the Museum. It is currently out of print but some issues are still available from the CMP, Amazon and the artist.
