Sky and trees and grasses waving in the breeze. A warm autumn sun setting in the West, and me standing here on the paths at the Institute of American Indian Arts. I came in 2011 with a heart full of sorrow. I needed a home, a purpose for being, a place to heal. This place and its landscape answered my need. Wide expanses, solitude, sympathetic friends, and a different way of seeing opened a whole new world and a whole new life. I found kindness and a purpose here, and I have never left.
