I am an Artist, musician writer and filmmaker of Santa Fe. I chose this spot because the river because is the lifeblood of Oghá P’o’oge. During the Pueblo Revolt this water supply was cut off helping the intertribal resistance to drive the Spanish out of the area and establish their sovereignty over religious and cultural matters. The river is a place where big trees grow and where there is shade in the summer. The water flows down from the mountains nurturing the city with that spirit and vital essence. The waterfall is a peaceful place near the Santa Fe Plaza where one can sit in quiet contemplation and still be close to the pulse of the vibrant intercultural and historic downtown. Through most of my time in Oghá P’o’oge, I have lived near to the Santa Fe River and enjoyed the wildness it brings into the city, the sanctuary it creates for flora and fauna and the soothing sound of water flowing feeding the big deciduous trees and willow thickets. The river still plays a vital role in the health and vibrancy of the city and when the rains come, the river get happy.
