The triptychs are an extension of the work created in “Empire,” utilizing a tripod with a panorama head to record 180 degree views of sites in
the Southern California Area.  This work was a prelude to creating work that was primarily sculpture-based and performance-based site work that utilized the landscape as metaphor for invisible processes.  These triptychs, however, were about the range of the particular and how extending the examination area created a sense of environment.

Many years, later, new technologies could be employed in created extended landscape images in the series “Appellation.”
